ivtv prodives great driver support for cards like the Hauppauge PVR x50 and other models

Mplayer plays (nearly) everything. The main Freevo audio/video playing application.
Xine plays (nearly) everything. Has DVD Menu support.
LIRC is a package that allows you to decode and send infra-red signals of many (but not all) commonly used remote controls. Linux IR remote control library.
XMLTV is a set of utils to manage TV listings stored in the XMLTV format. Used in Freevo for the TV Guide data.
BTTV. Linux video capture device driver.
MAME. Arcade video game emulator.
Avidemux. Linux GUI app to cut/paste/transform video files. Useful for cutting out commercials etc.
Bunkus DVD Backup. Very good document about using Mplayer's mencoder app for DVD backups to a harddrive.
DVBStreamer DVB streaming and Livepause applications used to record and allow pausing of live DVB broadcasts.

Mini Distro for multimedia purpose

Movix2: mini distro for playing divx on any pc, it would be interesting to use it for a standalone freevo distro for embedded mediabox ( movix2 is less than 20 mb, with x11 and mplayer already)
GeeXboX: standalone media player. GeeXboX is a full operating system, running under Linux and based on the excellent MPlayer. No need of hard drive, you just have to put the GeeXboX bootable CD into the CD-Drive of any pentium-class computer to boot it.

Distro's including Freevo

Freevix: a tiny GNU/Linux distribution designed to provide a complete but small foot print environment for people wanting to build a media player system with Freevo. Supports EPIA-M boards to run freevo.
Freepia is small GNU/Linux distribution designed to run on Via Epia-M Mainboards. The main motivation behind this project is to build a full featured, low noise media box to play movies/mp3s/images etc. For this it uses freevo but in the future there maybe support for others like mythtv or vdr.
Morphix (look under the testing section) is a live CD distro based on Knoppix which in turn is based on Debian. Morphix comes in a MorphixMediaCenter version which is containing Freevo. (the current 0.2 version is Freevo 1.3.4, without TV)
Xebian - Xbox Debian is a version of Debian for hardware or software modded Xboxes. The 1.0.2 release and later includes Freevo.
Feux is a small embedded distribution that runs completley from a ramdisk. (currently about 35Mb as a compressed initrd) Main focus currently is to support all hardware on the Epia CN400 mainboard and a PVR350 tv-card, and probably support for more hardware will be added later.
